Tales of the Baby Brain

What a disastrous day.

We're up, we're ready to go, I've checked Kirby Hall's opening times and we are off. It's the failsafe well, it might rain destination for the toddler who likes it best outside.

Firstly I can't remember where to turn. We get lost. On arrival, I haven't checked carefully enough, and failed to notice the winter opening times.

We'll go to Dean Park, I thought. Closed.

We'll go to Lyveden, I thought. Closed.

By which point, we've driven half the way around Northamptonshire. We'll go to Fermyn Woods... Great in principle, it's open, after all. Except it's £2.60 to park and I only have my bank card. So I have to pay £2.40 in addition on unnecessary beverages to put a car parking ticket on my car.

I fall over trying to get into the wooden castle climbing frame.

E refused to do much other than go on the swings and then demands an unnecessary beverage. I manage to attract the weird men out walking their dogs who want to regale me with how they've forgotten the dog's lead. Then it tips it down with rain.

We went home and my daughter ate a lunch consisting of ham, which she removed from the bread, and a banana. Followed by a yogurt. Lunch fail? Unsure. Dog eats crayons that are thrown on the floor.

Looking at the photos, you'd never know about any of the bad stuff. Toddler outside equals happy toddler. Dog with full belly equals happy dog.

Exhausted mummy.

  2. Aaah! Disaster after another, but let's be honest, she couldn't care less! She's had a brilliant time, the dog (gorgeous, BTW) looks quite comfortable, so it's just you suffering. And shattered x

  3. We all have these days! I feel for you, it's so disheartening when everything you try to plan doesn't work out. I hope you were ok after your fall, and as you say you wouldn't know from the photos that E hadn't had a great time getting a dose of fresh air and having fun. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

  4. Reminds me of many of our days, things go wrong, I get stressed but the children always love being out and about, so it's always worthwhile being out in the end. Your daughter looks like she loves that swing!

  5. Ooops! Yeah pictures are great for capturing only the happy moments :) She had a good time on the swings which is great and got some fresh air in the end so you got lots of brownie points for all you put yourself through. Some would have given up!

  8. Oh dear, we all have days like that, hope you can take it easy this weekend.

You have some beautiful facial expressions there, it would be good if they were bigger so we could see them more. Just shout if you are not sure how to make them bigger in Blogger, it is so simple. Mich x

  10. I just adore photos like this especially those smiley happy ones! Our toddler had a monumental meltdown a week or so ago in the forest and you'd never know, the photos after that point showed us all having the best time :)
